Being a mom of 3 school going kids, my mornings were pretty chaotic. The moment the alarm goes off till the moment the kids go to school, I was pretty much on my tender toes.
But that was about a year ago. And I was really on the edge all the time. I would be pretty much waking up the kids at the top of my lungs and getting everything ready in an very upset and anxious mood.
Now things have changed for the better. I have always been a “to-do list” person all my adult life. I always function better when I have a list of to-do things for my day to day life.
If any of you have been following my blog, you would know that I have recently shifted places and things have been pretty much tough.
And it doesn’t help that hubby had to stay back and work out things while I handle a teenager, a pre-teen and a kindergartener all alone out here.
Taking care of home and kids single handedly have been pretty taxing. And kids starting school in an entirely different environment hasn’t helped either. There is the emotional turmoil of three kids along with mine to take care of.
I am always on tenterhooks. And the mornings are the most trying.
Husband has always been the one who would wake the kids up and drop them off to school. Now without that help it has been pretty taxing. That was until I got into a routine.
Getting into a morning routine has not only made me more relaxed in the morning time but also I have noticed that I am in a much better mood the entire day. I have become more productive by getting few things together in the morning.
Here I will show a glimpse of my morning routine. How I have taken things under control just by changing a very small thing in my life is simply amazing.
1.Wake up 30 minutes early than usual.
This has been my single most life changing tip. I generally would wake up by 6:00 am and then get to the kitchen. Just by waking up half an hour early has made a ton of difference in my life. I wake up at 5:30 am and then pray for sometime. This has done wonders to my energy levels. I am much more calm and positive. When I have this 30 minutes of quiet time, I start my day with a great feeling. And it simply rubs off on the kids.
2. Eat something.
Start your day with some fruit or something light. It is not only healthy, but also will give you loads of energy to fight the battle ahead.
3. Prep your meals.
Plan ahead what you would make for breakfast and pack for the kids lunch box. This would not only make your life easier but also save up a ton of time. Simple things like zip-locking smoothie ingredient, making muffins and granolas, getting fruits and veggies ready a night ahead makes a lot of difference.
4. Make time for yourself.
Yes, I know you have nothing to worry if you do not do your hair or brush your teeth. But please!! Take care of yourself!! This has been my undoing all my life. I hate to groom myself. But just taking little care of myself has done lot of wonders to my attitude. I now do my best to take care of myself and wear most comfortable clothes before starting my work.
I go for walks or exercise at home depending upon my mood while listening to a good audio lecture. I feel I concentrate more on the audio when I go for walk hence generally prefer to take a good long walk when the weather permits.
6. Relish your breakfast.
Sit and relish every bit of breakfast. As you must have known already that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So why not relish it. Every. Single. Bite. Nothing like a healthy, peaceful and soothing breakfast after the morning hustle.
7. Organize your home.
Organize your home for at least 30 minutes before starting your work. When you have a messy home, your mind is totally cluttered and the mess keeps messing your brain. I find it best to do a quick 30 minute chores before I finally sit for my work.
8. Start your work with a calm mind.
Once you are done with all the above, you can relax, sit and carry on with your work without any distractions and worries.
Let me know in comments what is your morning routine like. I will get back to you with my entire day of routine pretty soon.
Until Next Time,
