Are you wondering looking at the title, what it has to do with my journey to weight loss and being healthy. Well, it is as closely connected as it can be.
In my previous post, My Latest Lifestyle Changes to Being Healthy, I have mentioned that I got my thyroid tested and the results were pretty good.
So I had been blaming my excessive weight gain on thyroid for long. Yes, I do was diagnosed with thyroid & high blood pressure. I was under medication before deliberately stopping them out of exasperation. (Bad Move)!
Since shifting places, I had lost a bit of weight without doing much, I had an idea, maybe my thyroid and blood pressure were under control due to my improved level of activity.
But I had hit a plateau. Even though I was walking with dedication and minding my food, the weight just wasn’t shaking off.
Hence I got my thyroid tested and the results were great. Now anyone else would be happy with the result. But not me! I was now left without an excuse to blame my weight gain. As I pretty much knew I was far from feeling normal inside me.
It was then that it hit me that it might be due to the high amount of stress that I have been undergoing these last 3 years. I have all the symptoms associated with cortisol. And lo and behold it was due to cortisol that I was unable to lose any weight despite my best efforts.
And I decided to totally fight it off naturally. The results are pretty amazing. It was the “moment” when I decided that I needed to control my stress that I was instantly relieved. After all, we can’t control everything in our lives.
What we can control is how we react to it and how we can change what is in our hands. We can always eat better, exercise. Is there any excuse for not doing it? Are we going to change any situation by not eating right, not exercising and simply thinking about what happened and what will happen. It was that moment that totally changed me.
These are the ways that I have been following to get my cortisol under control which has led me to a weight loss of 2 lbs in the past 15 days.
1.Get Sufficient Sleep
Yes, this is first and foremost. If your sleep cycle is disrupted, try to set it as soon as possible. The best way to do is sleep and wake at the same time daily. I find that if I delay my sleep cycle by even an hour, then my sleep is disrupted and I am very lethargic the next day.
I cannot emphasis more on this than I have already done. When you eat healthy, you feel healthy. Try eating wholesome food and avoid the CRAP(Canned, Refined, Artificial & Processed food). Nothing can replace a good organic wholesome food.
Yes, exercise, exercise, exercise. Remove all your frustration through your exercise. Whether it is walking just a block or jogging away to glory. Get your exercise regularly. Nothing can make you feel more accomplished than finishing a workout successfully.
4.Pursue your hobby
Whether it is reading your favorite book or painting for 15 minutes. Do it!! Take this little “me” time for yourself. For me, posting on this little blog helps me unwind.
Though I am placing this as last in the list, praying has what brought me immense peace. Knowing that we really can’t control things and whatever happens, happens for a reason has not only brought me peace but also reduced my stress levels dramatically.
So I can’t control what is happening around me, but I can control what is within myself. And from here on, I intend to simply push myself far ahead with lots of positivity.
Until Next Time,
