Spring Cleaning Tips to get your home spic and span in 7 days. Sounds unbelievable??
If you are anything like me, then setting aside an entire month for cleaning is just not possible. Then this is just what you need to get your house in order in 7 short days. That is if you have a modest home and not a gigornomous mansion.
I live in a modest home and I get my home ready for summer in a week. But of course you would need a bit of planning to get on top of the game. You will have to plan what exactly you would do which day.
But then why worry! I will walk you through a fool proof plan of spring cleaning tips that would just save you some precious time.
I would divide the work in sections and each day you would spend your time cleaning that part of the work or area. Do not be tempted to get everything done in a day and exhaust yourself. There are simple spring cleaning tips that are available to make our lives easier.
Now before I start let me show you how I keep my cleaning schedule throughout the year. You will just get a rough idea why just 7 days are enough for cleaning out your entire home when you stay on top of the cleaning game.
With three kids at home, my house is always a mess. I vacuum the house and mop the kitchen daily. Without that my survival would be questionable. Then the bathrooms are cleaned daily and so is my kitchen counter. Laundry is loaded and folded daily into their respective places too. When we get into a routine, it doesn’t take much time to get the small tasks done.
Then I have the weekly schedules which includes small decluttering, briefly cleaning the kitchen cabinets, cleaning out the fridge, and target organizing one room in the house.
The monthly cleaning schedule includes wiping down the mirrors, windows, switches, furniture, small kitchen appliances etc.
So you get a rough idea how my cleaning routine goes.
Now let’s get started with the Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Perfect House in 7 Days.
Day 1: Fans, Vents, Everything that is up
Start your cleaning with what is on top first. You don’t want a just cleaned bed to be covered with dust. Day 1 you would target everything that is up. Right from fans, vents, cobwebs to dust on the wall. Once you are done with these, you can relax and not worry about dust falling on the floor on your shining floor.
Day 2: Windows, Mirrors
Next you come a little down the ceiling to the windows and mirrors. Wash all your curtains, clean your windows, blinds, wipe the mirrors and doors. Clean your doors, door knobs too on Day 2.
Please do not spray your wood doors or windows with a glass cleaner. Always use a Wood Cleaner to wipe down your wooden doors or furniture. You do not want to spoil your precious furniture in the name of cleaning.
Day 3: Bedroom
Once you are done with the windows, you can now start cleaning area wise. Day 3 is dedicated to your bedrooms. Wash all your sheets and store them for next season. I recently bought these Clothes & Blanket Storage bags and am totally loving them. I have not only stored the sheets but also all kinds of things to be stored away neatly. And I am really happy with the way it is neatly arranged.
Now it’s time to take out your summer sheets and curtains out of the storage now.
Reuse, Recycle, Donate or Throw away the clutter. Check out the wardrobes for clothes that you haven’t used in two years. If you haven’t used them for so long, chances are, you never will. Check for clothes that your kids have outgrown. If you have small kids, they outgrow their clothes faster than we realize.
Once you have sorted through the clutter, quickly organize your wardrobes/drawers.
Day 4: Kitchen
Today is the dreaded kitchen day. Doesn’t the kitchen always overwhelm us. I find it very taxing to even thing about organizing my kitchen. With 3 kids, there is lot of cooking going on and my kitchen gets messy all too easily. Despite the fact that I deep clean the kitchen every now and then, it still is a big chore for me.
This is the day when you will really need some time to finish.
First, clear out everything from the kitchen cabinets and give it a quick wipe inside out. Do not attempt to clean all of your cabinets at once. Start by cleaning one or two cabinets at a time.
Throw anything that is past the expiry date. Next quickly clean up the refrigerator. Remember to clean the top of the fridge too. Give a quick wipe for all the small appliances before finally cleaning your counter top. You can try this Dish Soap, Hand Soap, Multi-Surface Cleaner
Day 5: Bathrooms, Living Room, Vacuum
Yay, we are already on day 5. Just two more days to enjoying a lovely and clean home. This is my favorite day too. I love cleaning the living room. Spray your bathroom tiles with this Cleaner Here. I like to transfer the cleaning liquid to a spray bottle. Allow it to soak while you clean your living room. Tidy up, dust, organize your living room. Vacuum all the carpet area and as well as between sofas. If you have kids, chances are you will find your long lost pen from between them.
Next hop on to the bathroom and give a good rub to all the places that you have sprayed the cleaner on. Give it a good scrub before rinsing it off. Always use gloves while handling such cleaners as they are too harsh on your skin.
Wipe clean your bathroom mirror and sink.
Organize your linen closet and you are done for the day.
Day 6: Flooring
Let’s do the home run for day 6. Clean all your flooring today. Whether it is mopping, vacuuming or scrubbing. All flooring need to be taken care of today. Clean your rugs, tiles, wooden flooring. Once you are done with it, your home is clean now.
Day 7: Outdoor
Finally, Day 7 is when you tackle outdoors. If you have a garage, lawn, balcony, or a huge garden. It doesn’t matter, get it clean and organized today.
Just like that you are done with the spring cleaning and you have a lovely home to welcome the summer.
