Stress Busting Tips For Moms. These are simple yet effective ways to reduce your mom stress.
Don’t we all go to a point where we totally lose it and only minutes later to feel guilty about it. Welcome to the Overwhelmed Moms Club.
I doubt whether there is anyone on this earth right now who can say that they have never been overwhelmed as a mom. Though we cannot totally avoid it, but we can certainly minimize our stress levels by following stress busting tips for moms.
A calmer mom will yield a calmer family. Our sanity and mental health is very crucial for the benefit of the entire family.
With today’s stress levels, it’s very important that we moms take extra care of ourselves. It doesn’t matter if you are a Stay At home Mom or a Working Mom. Taking care of yourself is just as important as any other work.
If you are calm and collected, you will be better able to guide your family to right decisions. Imagine yourself in a highly stressed out condition. Your child is back from school and wants to share how his day was. But you are in no position to listen, and there you lose a golden opportunity to bond with your child.
You do not want such things to happen again. You want to be there for your child whenever he need you. The only way to achieve that is by being calm and composed when kids are around.
Let me outline few of the Stress Busting Tips For Moms
Pray / Meditate / Exercise
Yes, do any of it. Praying, Meditating, Exercising are all very, very crucial for your mental and physical health. No matter what happens, stick to it. Find time to improve your physical as well as mental health.
Even if it is just a couple of miles run round the blocks or praying first thing in the morning, make time for it. Staying healthy is very crucial for staying positive as a mom.
I have always noticed that when I don’t exercise, I feel sluggish and lethargic. My temper turns foul and I am highly irritable for very silly things.
Praying and Exercising are both very crucial for me to stay focused and collected.
Set a routine
Setting a routine for yourself and your family will avoid any surprises. You can refer to my posts on how to set a morning routine and daily schedule below.
Once you get into a routine, you will find that your life is much easier. Your kids don’t wake up one morning to find you are deep cleaning the clutter only to be disappointed that there is no outing that they were promised.
When you have a schedule, things never get on top of you. There is a structure to everyone’s life. Life never gets overwhelming due to silly things like loading the dishwasher.
Honestly, a messy house sends me into a loop. I feel depressed and down whenever there are too many chores to do. This generally happens after an episode of illness when things get the better of me. Until I don’t get everything sorted, I feel as if I have fallen more ill.
But since the kids have grown up, they help around the house to make me feel better when I am sick.
Take time for each of your kid
If you have more than one kid, take time out for each of your kid. Have that special time with each of your kids. It could be as simple as taking your son grocery shopping while hubby looks after your daughter at home.
It could just be that your elder child is craving your attention when she is all too cranky. A simple thing as spending some time with her will improve her overall behavior.
Engage with them with intelligent talk. Listen. For. Once. Do not turn this into a lecture episode. You do that plenty of times. Just enjoy being with your child all alone. Remember they are not going stay with you forever. Relish their childhood before they fly the nest.
Stop being a super mom
Well, need I say this any further. Why do we think that we are not normal human beings??!!
Can’t we, for once, stop feeling guilty and accept that we are humans too. It is natural that we will make mistakes. But don’t we all learn from our mistakes. Let each of your mistake make you a better mom. Not a worse one by feeling guilty all the time.
You have 2 hands and 2 feet. There is only so much that you can do. Take help from your family and friends whenever necessary. Do not be shy to ask for help when in need.
Make time for yourself
Though I have listed this last but this is the most important Stress Busting Tips For Moms. Please, please, please, make time for yourself. It could be pursuing a hobby or simply browsing through the net. Or just don’t do anything. Sit quietly and relish your quiet time.
Meet with friends. Being a mom doesn’t have to mean that you have to isolate yourself from the rest of the world.
I take my time to unwind just before kids come back from school. That way I am in a refreshed mood when they are back. But if you have scheduled your time to run errands or do chores as they are back, you will end up being overwhelmed.
If you have tiny tots or are a working mom, you can arrange help to look after them for sometime while you take some much needed break.
So there, I have given you my simple yet effective stress busting tips for moms. Though they sound simple but they are incredibly useful. Making few simple changes in life make our lives much better.
Having given all the Stress Busting Tips For Moms above, let me also add something here. Despite your best efforts and best intentions, all of us will lose it at some point of our time. Kids will get on your nerves when you were least expecting it. That’s parenting for you.
Do not let that one moment or one day get to you. Pick yourself up the next day and do your best. Your family loves you anyway. And you love your family unconditionally.
Until Next Time,
